Deiopea is the name of a beautiful nymph, mythologic aquatic creature, betrothed to Eolo, god of winds, by Giunone.
Deiopea ensemble, born in 2002 from an idea of Giovanni Bataloni in collaboration with Marco Bianchi, Mario Preda and Marco Castiglioni, is a group which proposes original music inspired to the light and air of Mediterranean world and which looks for contamination between Italian melody, jazz and South-american rithms.
Deiopea’s music research tries to point out the hidden relations between Italian traditional melody, early 20th century composers’ armonies and jazz and modern South-american music, so, near classical jazz standards they put transformations or reinterpretations of pieces from Puccini and Scriabin.
From his birth the group realized many shows, also with declaimed or sang poetic pieces, availing of the collaboration of several artists as the vocalist Chiara Sgherbini, the actor Andrea Ripamonti and the drummer Alessio Pacifico.
